McBrien plays for mental health charity and Mayo

Well done to our senior club member David McBrien for playing full back for the Mayo senior team in a recent charity game against Sligo GAA. This was a friendly game set up in order to raise awareness surrounding mental health issues and to encourage individuals to have conversations with their friends, partners, parents and loved ones.

The funds raised from the game were for Mindspace Mayo, to help continue to support their excellent work. Mindspace Mayo is a free and confidential support service for young people living in Mayo. They provide guidance and support for young people who are going  through a difficult or distressing time.

Andy would walk 50 miles, and he would walk 50 more

There is a proclaimers pun in this headline dying to get out! Well done to our club member, Andy Moran, and current Leitrim Manager who is participating in the the 50MileChallenge raising funds for Leitrim GAA and LGFA. If you would like to support Andy, donations can be given online by clicking here.

Kuba makes his debut

Congratulations to our senior member Kuba Callaghan, who made his debut for Mayo. Mayo got the better of Galway in the FBD League Semi-Final that was played at Connacht GAA Air Dome on Saturday 14th January.

It was a momentous occasion as Kuba stepped onto the field for the first time, representing Mayo in a competitive match. Kuba quickly settled into the game, showing off his skills and making a number of key plays and also found himself on the scoreboard with a point from play in the second half. The debut of Kuba is a testament to his hard work and dedication over the last number of years.

The final scoreline was Mayo 2-18 and Galway 3-12.

We wish the Mayo football team the best of luck in the FBD final on Friday 20th January where they take on Roscommon.
