Ballaghaderreen GAA were delighted to host a primary schools Go Games integration fun blitz on Friday last, 5th October. Our five local schools, St. Attracta's. St. Aidan's, St.Colmans, Scoil Íosa and Scoil Mhuire were all in attendance and we were delighted to give each school two footballs as a gesture of thanks for supporting our national games. 

A special welcome to the Syrian children and their teachers from the EROC Centre who were so enthusiastic and got straight into the action.There were over 100 children in attendance and all players were split into 6 boys teams and 6 girls teams which encouraged everyone to mix with children from the other schools. 

We had five 12 minute games, no scores are kept with the objective of the games being fun. Players were be encouraged to swap positions in the different games. 

We were delighted to give a bag of crisps and a bottle of water to all the children after they played and mixed together so well with their teammates for the day. 

Thanks to Keith O Donnell, Ballaghaderreen GAA Coaching Officer, Dermot Dillon, Club Chairman and Eugene Ivers, Mayo GAA GPO, for coordinating pitches and overseeing teams moving between pitches. Thanks to club coaches who volunteered to help supervise and referee. Thanks to the Transition year students from St. Nathy's who did a great job refereeing and helping the players on the field. The teachers did a mighty job to manage the 12 different teams on the day. Again thanks to the schools for taking the time to visit the pitch today.

Hopefully we will see some new players joining Ballaghaderreen GAA next year that played for the first time today.
